Information about Xiphactinus:
~Largest species of bony fish (up to 20ft/ 6meters)
~Have been discovered in Alabama, and Georgia in the United States, as well as Europe, Australia, Canada and Venezuela.
~Named by Liedy in 1870 before Cope named it Portheus molossus in 1872
~Have been found with other fish fossilized inside them
~Very little known as juveniles only two specimens
